How to Join

One launcher does the setup: it finds Final Fantasy XI on your PC or downloads it for you, keeps it up to date and starts the game.

1. Install the launcher
  1. Run Olympus-XI-Setup.exe. Windows may say “Windows protected your PC”. That's because the launcher isn't code-signed yet. Click More info, then Run anyway.
  2. The launcher looks for Final Fantasy XI on your PC.
    • Found it? Keep it selected. The launcher updates it for this server; Square Enix's PlayOnline updater isn't needed.
    • Don't have it? Choose download it from Square Enix for me. The launcher downloads the official game (about 7.7 GB) and sets it up. You need about 22 GB free while it installs.
    • Installed somewhere it didn't look? Click Find the folder myself and pick the folder that contains SquareEnix.
  3. Click Install and continue. The launcher sets up addons and better graphics, then restarts.
  4. The line under Play shows it getting your game ready. If your game is under Program Files, Windows asks for permission once; click Yes. Play unlocks when it's done.
2. Make your account

Create your account and character right here, then sign in with them in the launcher. Or do it all in the launcher:

  1. In the Sign In panel, choose Create account, then pick a username (3 to 15 letters or numbers) and a password.
  2. Sign in and press Play. Windows asks for permission each time the game starts; click Yes.
  3. On the character screen, create your character and you're in.
3. Your first steps

Right after you arrive, you choose how your character plays: Normal, Titan Mode or Hardcore. Take your time; there's no going back. Then visit your Mog House Moogle. He has a few things to get you started.

Tips
  • Settings (under Play) has everything: Graphics for resolution, frame rate and quality; Game & Launcher for sound, mouse, controller and screenshots; Addons & Textures for addons and HD textures.
  • HD textures: download NextHD from Nexus Mods (free account), then Settings → Addons & Textures → Texture packs → Import download.
  • Controller: Settings → Game & Launcher → Controller. Automatic works for Xbox and PlayStation controllers. Coming from Phoenix XI? Copy from Phoenix XI uses the same layout.
  • Stuttering? Try Stop searching for new controllers in the controller settings, add your Final Fantasy XI folder to Windows Security's exclusions, or switch Settings → Graphics → Renderer to DXVK.
  • Laptop with two graphics chips? The launcher asks Windows for the fast one (Settings → Graphics → Graphics chip).
  • Game won't start? The line under Play says what's wrong, and Server Status lists every check. Missing Windows pieces: Settings → Game & Launcher → Windows components → Install missing.
  • Still stuck? Settings → Game & Launcher → Export diagnostics saves a zip with the logs (no passwords). Bring it to our Discord.
